Good morning all! smile.gif

I'm pleased to announce a new version of PocketBreeze release, version 5.3.02! biggrin.gif

This new version release follows the recent release of PocketBreeze 5.3 that was released about two weeks ago. Version 5.3.02 includes several fixes to follow-up some of the reports received following version 5.3 release and also several great new features and improvements that were implemented especially for this new version - just to bring the fun for our users with this new update clap1.gif

What's new with PocketBreeze 5.3.02?

1. Preserved folding state - With this new version we've implemented new advanced "preserved folding state" behavior. Basically, this means that each time you collapse or expand a certain grouping title on any of the different tabs with PocketBreeze, the folding state (collapse/expanded) of this grouping title will be preserved the next time you soft-reset your device, or the next time you will enter-exit PB Options smile.gif

Getting this feature working properly was a complex process - but the result is an amazing improvement in the "ease-of-use" experience for our users, making the entire folding-related configuration process for our users a much easier and more intuitive process.

On all of PocketBreeze tabs, the folding state will be preserved "as-is" for each grouping title, based on the current grouping/sort order on that certain tab (for tabs with multiple grouping options such as the Tasks and Notes tabs).

One exception is the Calendar tab - on the Calendar tab the new "Preserved folding" is designed to "shift" the folding state between the grouping title days as the date changes! This means that if you have today's grouping title expanded and tomorrow's folded, once the date will switch to tomorrow's date, the content that was displayed on tomorrow's grouping title before the date change will now shift to today's title and will automatically expand biggrin.gif Making the folding configuration process much easier for users compared to the previous way this used to work! smile.gif

Many users requested to see this feature implemented and I really hope that you will all enjoy this great new addition, which makes it much easier to use and configure PocketBreeze to your liking with this new addition.

With the previous version we also had a bug report that mentioned that the option to automatically expand today's title wasn't working properly, so basically with this new "Preserved folding" this bug is also fixed since this feature replaces the previous feature that wasn't working properly.

Additionally, many of the older folding-related options that existed on the Options section were not needed anymore, so we did a good cleaning on the Options section and as a result the actual new version size is even smaller than the size of the previous version - which is always a great plus to have! cool.gif

2. Items creation auto-assignment to current category - One important fix that was implemented with this new version for PI users (this already worked OK for Pocket Outlook and Agenda Fusion users with previous versions) is the ability to create new items and have the newly created item assigned with the currently selected category automatically - either when creating an item by clicking a grouping title and the current grouping is category-based, or, when creating a new item when a certain category filter is selected on the specific tab smile.gif

This was one of the things mentioned by GTD users - although this is just a small start and more of the things that were requested on the GTD thread will also be included with upcoming new updates smile.gif

PocketBreeze 5.3.02 Development Log

* Chinese, Czech, Dutch, Greek and Italian resource files updated to include the new version strings too.
* New menu option added to show/hide MyList list items progress bar directly from the PocketBreeze Notes tab.
* MyList items progress bar color selection for painting improved. Will now display properly the progress value for all different selecetd theme files.
* Grouping titles collapse/expanded state is now preserved when resetting the device or reloading PocketBreeze on all tabs and state is stored separatley for each grouping/sort type on the different tabs.
* Upon a date change the grouping collapse/expanded state is shifted based on the day position compared to todays's date on the Calendar tab. Therefore if today's grouping is expanded, the following day grouping title will also automatically expand once moving to the following day.
* Problem when collapsing many grouping titles not preserving the grouping titles state correctly fixed.
* Option "Default folding state" removed from the "Calendar -> Day titles" options due to the new "Preserve collapse state" support added.
* Option "Skip days without appointments or tasks" removed from the "Calendar -> General" options section and replaced with a new "Empty grouping titles behavior" option, allowing to choose between: Hide, Collapse and Show.
* "Folding Default" option removed from the Tasks tab settings due to the addition of the new preserved folding state feature.
* "Folding Default" option removed from the Notes tab settings due to the addition of the new preserved folding state feature.
* "Folding Default" option removed from the Contacts tab settings due to the addition of the new preserved folding state feature.
* "Folding Default" option removed from the Messages tab settings due to the addition of the new preserved folding state feature.
* "Folding Default" option removed from the Special Events tab settings due to the addition of the new preserved folding state feature.
* Problem with "Human time" option combo-box setting showing time format with AM/PM value even when using 24 hour format on the device regional setting fixed.
* When using the search panel on either the Contacts tab or Notes tab all of the grouping titles will automatically expand. Once the search string is cleared the grouping titles will revert back to the previous folding state.
* Support added for Pocket Word (PSW) and Pocket Excel (PXL) file types that are used on Pocket PC 2003 devices
* Support added for Word (DOCX) and Excel (XLSX) file types that are used with Windows Mobile 6 devices
* When creating a new task on the tasks tab while the tasks tab is grouped by category the newly created task will be created with the selected grouping title category pre-selected by default also when using PI as the selected PIM.
* When creating a new task or appointment when there is a specific category-filter selected on PocketBreeze, the newly created item will be created with the current selected category filter pre-selected also when using PI as the selected PIM.
* Problem when creating a new task item on the "No Category" grouping title creating the new task with a pre-define category called "No Category" instead of setting the new item without any categories at all fixed.
* When creating a new contact item on the Contacts tab when a category filter is selected or by clicking a category grouping title the newly created contact will be assigned with the selected category automatically.
* When creating a new contact item on the Special Events tab the newly created item will be automatically assigned with the currently active category filter if such exists.
* When creating a new contact on the Contacts tab while using Company grouping the contact will be created with the selected company grouping title pre-defined for this contact automatically.

Future thoughts...

That's all for this new version release biggrin.gif As you can see on the activity and my replies on the forums there are lots of new changes and features that I would like to complete implementing in the very near future now cool.gif

The plan is to keep up with the same pace of development and gradually release new updates with all of the new features discussed here on the forums, while making sure we continue to optimize the PocketBreeze code more and more along-side, so that the overall size of PocketBreeze will only get smaller and more efficient biggrin.gif (something that we managed to do with all of our recent updates - including this one).

As always, I'm looking forward for your input on this new version release and hope you will enjoy the new features! smile.gif Please be sure to post back with your thoughts and input on this new version and stay tuned for more news arriving soon. As always, many thanks to the beta testing team that helped with the testing of this new version to verify that indeed all of the new features implemented with this new version are working properly cool.gif

Thanks Amit. I am very eager to see those updates:)!!

I thought of posting a little "promotional" post on the GTD forum, but let me wait until when you think it's a good time.

Hi Wild Thing smile.gif

We usually don't update all minor translation related strings with each new small update since updating all translations with small updates will require too much testing and overload each time we change 4 or 5 strings in the entire strings set of PocketBreeze, therefore the strings related to the new features added with this new version are currently still not translated smile.gif

Usually when we release a bit larger update such as the update to version 5.2, 5.3 and so on... we will also work on updating all of our translation strings once again, catching up with all of the string changes that were implemented in the past several minor updates in between cool.gif

Hi Amit,

thank you for the information. The new featrues are create and work perfekt. I even have the impression, that this version is faster by switching between the different tabs than the older versions.
Best regards
Uwe

Hi Sema and welcome to our forums smile.gif

There is definitely no problem with the PhatNotes support implementation and this is something that we are still working on smile.gif Basically the "preserved folding" feature was something that was requested a long time ago here on the forums (by Wonder if I recall correctly cool.gif ) and we wanted to complete this implementation too along the development road.

As always - we continue with our development in full speed and we already started working on the next build features. PhatNotes support is listed also among the higher goals that we have today for the upcoming new builds so you can be sure it won't take much longer until we will have it ready too! smile.gif I promise to do my utmost to have the PhatNotes support included ASAP!

I hope you will enjoy this new update too in the meanwhile until we will complete the PhatNotes support addition too 1eye.gif

Amit,

There is one behavior in the "Empty grouping titles behavior" in conjunction with the new preserved folding state that I don't quite expect.

When "Empty grouping titles behavior" is set to "collapse", I would expect the preservation to act as if it was set in "show" (in which it works swiftly). However, it does not seem to work in the same way in that case. The folding state changes every time I change filter, and "expands all" every time I leave PB option. Is it something by design?
