Good morning all,

After several weeks of hard work I'm pleased to announce that release of PocketBreeze 5.3.04! clap1.gif

This new version includes several really great new features that were requested by our users for a long time along with several important fixes that were reported. Let's get started reviewing what's new with the new version:

What's new in PocketBreeze 5.3.04?

1. New "Reschedule & Reminder" dialogs - One of the main new changes you will find with this new version is the all new "Reschedule & Reminder" dialogs available through the context menus for both appointments and tasks on the different PB tabs. With the previous version, using the Reschedule option users were only capable to modify an item date, without having the ability to easily change the item's hours or any additional information. Using the new Reschedule & Reminder dialogs users can now also modify an appointment hours easily, change all-day status, modify a task completion date (for those that track completion dates of tasks) and even more!

The new dialogs were also improved in terms of one-hand navigation in mind and you will find they now also include an OK button, allowing users to close the dialog using the OK button for devices with such hardware button. The entire dialog can be navigated using the D-Pad control only and hitting the D-Pad action button on any of the date-pickers on the dialogs will now open PocketBreeze monthly calendar instead of the regular monthly calendar used by the OS cool.gif

2. Important context menu improvements - With this new version you will find some great new improvements implemented with PocketBreeze context menus! These are not major changes, but the kind of changes that really helps to improve the overall user experience and navigation of the application. Among the changes that you will find: new "Edit appointment"/"Edit task" options added to open items directly in edit mode using D-Pad navigation, new menu option "Preview Note" which will open an item note preview window for items including notes and a few additional re-organizations for the context menu ordering which makes things much easier to navigate and control biggrin.gif

3. Default PIM improvements - Users using PocketBreeze with the default PIM will now notice that newly created items (appointments, tasks and contacts) that their creation is canceled will automatically be removed from PocketBreeze, which is a real time saver! Additionally, smarter selection of the default starting hours for newly created appointments was added that will make users life also simpler when creating new items using PocketBreeze cool.gif

4. Important fixes - There are several long-waited and important fixes included with this new version. Among them the bug reported with the "Sort tasks by reminder with appointments" feature was fixed with this new version. In addition, the auto-collapse feature that was causing some confusion with previous version was re-implemented with a better and simpler solution as part of this new version - now there are two simpler separate options available, the first whether to show/hide empty grouping titles on the Calendar tab; When visible, users can now configure if they wish to view the "Empty grouping titles item" - when choosing to hide it the "No available items" string won't be visible and therefore causing empty grouping titles to remain empty, which was users goal when using the previous auto-collapse grouping titles option. This way making things more user friendly and easy to use biggrin.gif

PocketBreeze 5.3.04 Development Log

* Set Appointment Reminder dialog re-coded from the beginning with optimized and improved memory management that will help improve overall memory management. OK button added on the dialog top bar allowing to close the dialog using the OK button on devices where such button is available.
* Choosing the reschedule menu option on the Calendar tab will now open a new advanced dialog allowing to completely control the appointment start/end date/time, all-day state and reminder details for the appointment instead of the previous option that only allowed to change the appointment date.
* Context menu associated with appointments re-design and structured to offer more powerful control using D-Pad navigation.
* New "Edit Appointment" option added on the appointments context menu, allowing to easily open an appointment item for editing using the D-Pad navigation only.
* New "Preview Note" option added on the appointments context menu for appointments including a note. Clicking the option will open PocketBreeze note preview window.
* Menu option "Reminder" removed from context menu and is now available only when clicking the reminder icon on the item.
* "Create Copy" and "Beam Appointment options" moved inside the Tools popup menu. Open Tasks option removed from context menu for appointments.
* Clicking the D-Pad action button on the "Start Date" or "End Date" date picker control on the new "Reschedule and Reminder" dialog on the Calendar tab will open the Popup monthly calendar for date selection.
* Problem with new "Reschedule and Reminder" dialog for appointments positioned too high on the screen when activated fixed.
* Problem with color selection picker tab causing all buttons to paint using black color fixed.
* Problem when creating a new task from PocketBreeze when using Agenda Fusion as the default PIM using the wrong base-day for the recurring series tab within the new item dialog in Agenda Fusion is now fixed.
* Calendar Tab General Options section re-designed to match the new options structure and design used with other new setting pages.
* "Empty grouping titles behavior" option removed from the Calendar tab General options section and replaced with two new checkbox options: "Hide empty grouping titles" and "Hide empty grouping titles item".
* Checking the new "Hide empty grouping titles item" option will remove the "No Available Item" added to grouping titles without items on the Calendar tab. This new option is designed to replace the previous "Auto-collapse" option which was too complex and causing several behavior confusions. With this option checked grouping titles without items will display only the grouping title, completely regardless to the grouping titles collapse state.
* The new "Hide empty grouping titles item" option checkbox will be enabled only when the option "Hide empty grouping titles" is unchecked to simplify the options interface for users.
* "Time Format" option removed from the General Calendar options section. PocketBreeze will automatically use the time format as defined on the device regional settings.
* Newly created appointments, tasks or contacts that are created when using the default PIM and their creation was canceled (without changing any of the new item details), will be automatically removed.
* Newly created appointments will be assigned with a default hour starting from the upcoming new round hour with one hour length when created on today's date.
* New "Reschedule and Reminder" dialog added for task items on both the Calendar and Tasks tab. The new "Reschedule and Reminder" dialog also allows to view and control tasks' completion date for completed tasks, this way allowing to setup a different completion date for tasks that were already completed on a certain date.
* New "Edit Task" context menu option added on the tasks context menu.
* New "Preview Note" option added on the tasks context menu for tasks including a note. Clicking the option will open PocketBreeze note preview window.
* "Create Copy" and "Beam Task" options moved inside the Tools popup menu. Open Calendar option removed from context menu for tasks.
* Clicking the D-Pad action button on the "Start Date", "Due Date", "Completion Date" or "Reminder date" date picker controls on the new tasks "Reschedule and Reminder" dialog open the popup monthly calendar for date selection instead of using the default OS date picker.
* Problem with D-Pad not returning back to the Today screen after deleting an item fixed.
* Problem when using option "Sort tasks by reminder" not placing tasks on the reminder date when the reminder date is different from the due date fixed. When the option is active tasks including a reminder will be placed in the correct grouping title based on their reminder date.
* Support for recurring appointments vs. single instance editing in recurring appointments added to the new Reschedule & Reminder dialog for appointments.
* Controls gap narrowed on the new Calendar General options screen to fit all controls on square screens too.
* Problem when selecting black color on the Color selection dialog fixed.
* Problem with time format not picked correctly from the OS for appointments fixed.

Future plans and thoughts

Unfortunately we were unable to implement all of the things that we wanted for this new version - simply because there are lots of things we would like to accomplish, so this means that there is much more to come with upcoming updates cool.gif

With this new version we've again managed to reduce the overall memory footprint of PocketBreeze, even with all the new features that were implemented, as part of our efforts to continue and optimize the PocketBreeze code to the maximum possible. The memory consumption was also reduced and we will continue to strive to this direction more and more with each of our following updates as we always do smile.gif

As always, I'm looking forward for all your input on the new version! Any bug reports that you see, new features that you would like to see implemented and so forth biggrin.gif I hope you will all enjoy this new version release and looking forward for your input!

Thanks, Amit and SBSH.
More features in a new version...and a smaller footprint. Simply incredible. If only more companies subscribed to your mantra.

I'm not completely sure if this will be possible for much longer as we progress with new updates - but there are definitely a few additional things we would like to optimize which will allow us to continue adding some of the new things planned in the near future and still maintain the same overall application size or to continue and decrease it a bit with upcoming new updates some more cool.gif

Definitely they are! Thank you for all the hard work. The edit-task from D-Pad is especially useful - for I don't have to go through opening a task and then press edit. It saves some hassles. The Reminder/Reschedule option is great too; now if I need to schedule a day within the month, I just drag-n-drop it to my pinned calendar. If it's outside of this range or I need specific time change, I can use the DPad.

Two suggestions:
When I use Remind/Reschedule, the PB calendar pops up (so, this applies to the original pop-up calendar too). I go ahead and choose the date. However, if I again decide not to change it, I cannot cancel the calendar (make it go away) with DPad by ok/close (hardware button mapped) nor as in the mail-preview windows, in which we can navigate various operations using DPad. It'd be nice to have. Of coz, at the moment, I can just choose the original date and make it go away; although the drawback is there's a chance I made a mistake (I forgot the original) and actually change the appointment unknowingly.

Expand/Expand all; Collapse/Collapse all:
Using DPad to do this is a bit inconvenient. If I needa expand one item, I navigate down through the Dpad. It takes a few clicks. After I do this for a few, but not all titles, I would like to collapse them again. However, there's not such an option before I expand all. So I have to expand all, and then go back to the context menu again to collapse all. I am sure you are aware of this, as well as an option using right/left DPad button to expand/collapse:)

Anyhow, don't get me wrong Amit:) You have done an incredible job with this product. This is a great piece. I will enjoy using this new version of PB!
