Hi all! wave.gif

Now that PocketWeather 2 was released, we'd like to give you a first impression on the skinning abilities of this great new version! smile.gif

While waiting for new betaversions to test we shortened ourselves the waiting by playing around with the scripting-language. One reason was to be able to offer you with your first steps in skinning, the other reasons were to learn about the new functions and to enjoy having PocketWeather 2 looking exactly the way we always wanted! smile.gif

Because it didn't take us too long to get the first impressive and satisfying results, we decided to offer them to you as free downloads. Maybe they'll encourage you to try it yourselves - it really ain't that difficult! clap1.gif

But enough talking, let's take a look of what we have...

Matze's Skins

This skin is pretty simple yet informative: it will display the current weather conditions plus a forecast for the upcoming six days. Of course, all text will be in the language of your device, the screenshots were taken from my own device, which is a german one... wink.gif

I wanted the skin to follow everyday's mood, so I made three versions of it:

Matze-Vertical

Matze-Horizontal

Matze-Combined

Each layout contains the following information:

  1. Cityname
  2. Time of last update of the current conditions
  3. Curren conditions - large icon
  4. Current temperature
  5. Current conditions - text
  6. effective temperature
  7. Humidity
  8. Pressure
  9. Twilight start
  10. Time of sunrise
  11. Time of sunset
  12. Twilight end
  13. Compass with arrow displaying winddirection
  14. Windspeed
  15. Winddirection - degrees
  16. Winddirection - text
  17. Moonphase - Icon
  18. Moonphase - percentage
  19. Moodphase - text
  20. Time of last update of forecast-data
  21. Day of forecast
  22. Icon of day's forecast
  23. Lo/Hi-Temp
  24. Rain probability - percentage

To install the skin all you need to do is downloading the ZIP-file, extract it and copy its content into the subfolder "\skins\Todays Extras" of PW's installationfolder (usually "\program files\SBSH\PocketWeather").
Now open the context-menu of the today-plugin by clicking on the settings-button (the sun-icon to the left of the first cityname), open the submenu "Today", "Layouts", "Today Extras" and choose the desired skin. That's all and that's easy! smile.gif

Feel free to use this skin as a base for your own experimentations: you can change everything with a simple texteditor (such as Notepad). All you need to do is saving the file in pwc-format and copy it to the correct folder on your device again. We'd be pleased if you'd post your results in our forums - now that we've got the possibilty to skin PW the way we want to do, we REALLY should do so! partytime.gif

Wonderful skin, Matze. For a moment there, I was worried I was going to have to learn how to make skins. But the masters stepped in. Thank you.

Never buy programs from www.iphonethemeforpocketpc. com or www.web-resort.com as they steal freeware programs and sell them as their own. These programs belong to A_C and are freeware and can be downloaded from XDA-Developers.com for free.

They also take icons without asking. The meters are from Dingo Designs.

Currently yes. I'm planning an update which will support both resolutions. smile.gif

Is there a way to get the entire forecast on the screen? I use my screen horizontaly and I'm using the Matze-horizontal.
Also...not a complaint but I don't speak german...What does Vorhersage mean? idiot.gif

I decided to change the layout that Yarns created to fit my screen. unsure.gif So far this is what I've got...

I'm still not completely satisified with the end product but I'm getting closer... rolleyes.gif If anyone would like to use this here it is.
I took off the rain percentages at the bottom, added an image and pushed everything closer so it would all fit.

I agree! clap1.gif

Sorry, but I'm a bit short on time, that's why the next version (which will work on QVGA as well) still will take some time... sad.gif
