Good day all! clap1.gif

Along side with the new PocketWeather release 2.0 release just a few moments ago, and just before Christmas started, it's is time to introduce an additional new updates just before the new year. I'm excited to announce today the release of PocketBreeze 5.4! cool2.gif

The new PocketBreeze 5.4 was planned for release along with the new PocketWeather version for some good reasons... so let's get started reviewing all of the new things we've got with the new PocketBreeze!

What's New With PocketBreeze 5.4?

1. PocketWeather Integration! - One of the exciting new features implemented with this new PocketBreeze version is the new integration with the all new PocketWeather version 2.0 that was just released a few moments ago! clap1.gif This is also the reason why the two updates were synchronized for release together at about the same time.

When using both the new PocketWeather 2.0 and this new PocketBreeze version you will enjoy new special integration between the two applications, allowing you to view your weather information directly within PocketBreeze Calendar tab display. Using this feature you can view the weather forecast conditions for your upcoming days directly within PocketBreeze, helping you to prepare for your different daily plans even with weather considerations in mind! cool.gif

Within the "PB Options -> Calendar Options" you will find a new Weather section allowing you to choose the level of integration you would like to use inside the PocketBreeze display. Users can choose between: Disabled, Icons only or Icons and temperatures smile.gif

2. Easy To Use Categories/Filters Menu - A second cool feature that you'll find with this new version is a redesigned Categories/Filters menu structure that introduces smarter interface and makes it easier to use!! As part of this change, we've combined the categories and filters to a single joint menu, this means that the option to use either filters or categories was removed and now both types can be used together smile.gif

This change now removes the previous redundant need to create a filter with a single category for simple category filtering when using the filters mode and users can simply choose the category they wish to use, or any of the filters in case you are interested in smarter "filtering" job for your display.

In addition - we now had to re-design the menu in a smarter way that will allow to easily choose either categories or filters, so this is exactly what we did biggrin.gif When opening the menu with this new version you will notice that the menu will display only the last 8 used categories/filters and at the bottom you will have two popup menus allowing you to choose an item from within the entire categories or filters list easily! cool.gif

This change implements a second long-requested feature that was requested on our forums for a long time now, which is viewing only the last used filters on the context menu instead of having to go through a list of all of your categories or filters all the time! So basically now only the commonly used filters or categories will be displayed on the top section of the menu, while all of your additional categories and filters are available for use within the two last popup menus. I hope that you will all enjoy using this new feature too! WPFsmileyGen6.png

3. PNG Skins Support - Following a similar change with the latest iLauncher 3.1 and the new PocketWeather 2.0 released just a few moments ago, the new PocketBreeze release also introduce complete PNG files support! as part of our process replacing the older TGA format support with PNG. This means that all of your skin files can now be PNG files (no need for any TGA or BMP components anymore).

The main benefit of PNG files is the fact that they are much smaller in size and yet preserve the quality of the image format! smile.gif Due to this change and the switch to PNG files within PocketBreeze built-in resources, the installation size of the new PocketBreeze version also decreased dramatically and this is one of the smallest versions that we've had in a long time! biggrin.gif

As different skins will also switch to PNG format, the storage size that users will need to store their skins on their device will of course get smaller too.

4. Improvements and Fixes - The new PocketBreeze version also brings lots of important code optimization work and important fixes. Those might seem like smaller scale changes, but nevertheless were very important changes that users have been reporting for a while now and I'm positive users will be happy to see those reports fixed with this new version smile.gif Among those fixes you will find: problem with note icons showing when syncing with Outlook 2007 fixed, D-Pad navigation improvements on the different dialogs, display problems with the popup monthly calendar preview pane fixed, ability to switch between tabs when using horizontal tabs in a ring-movement (switching from last to first) added and much more!

I won't be able to review all of the small changes one by one in this thread here, but you can read through the different specific changes in the development log or just by playing with the new version and slowly discover all of the changes and improvements implemented with this new version biggrin.gif

You can find the new version development log on the PocketBreeze version history page at the following URL: http://www.sbsh.net/...p?page=vhistory

Thoughts...

We've been working for quite a while on today's new version release and I sure hope that you will all enjoy today's new release(s), both for the new PocketBreeze and the new PocketWeather cool.gif I'm also really happy that we managed to bring all of this exciting news still before Xmas!

I'm glad to say that even with the large releases and updates that we've been releasing today, we actually had even more work done behind the scenes which is planned for our release party around New Year biggrin.gif So we will definitely do our utmost to keep things interesting around here in the upcoming two months, and hopefully also afterwards...

As always, me and the team will stay tuned here on the forums to follow-up with all of your input and provide help with any of the questions you might have etc. I would love to hear your thoughts about the new version and other future ideas that you would like to see arriving from SBSH as part of our future work!

Have a great new day, Happy Christmas for those celebrating and a Happy New Year! xmas2.gif

Nice work Amit and team! Love the integration with PW!!!!

Thanks Kwickone! smile.gif

The more I've been using the weather display within the Calendar tab along with the temperatures the more I liked the new integration, so I'm positive that our users will also be really glad to find out the new integration between the two applications with this new version! clap1.gif
