Good morning all! smile.gif

After a long phase of development activity and great help from our dedicated beta team we are really excited to introduce today the all new Calendar Touch for Windows Mobile Pro/Classic devices! (with Touch screen).

SBSH Calendar Touch is here!

Calendar Touch is the very first Touch-enabled version of our SBSH Calendar application (formerly Papyrus) designed for Windows Mobile Pro/Classic users! During the past year or more we’ve received a lot of requests from our users to see a version of SBSH Calendar (Papyrus) made available also for Windows Mobile Pro/Classic users and we are excited to bring our users today the very first release of the new Calendar Touch! clap1.gif

SBSH Calendar Touch (CT) brings an amazing list of innovations and features with it. We probably won’t be able to cover all of it here, but we’ll try to review some of the important features offered by this new release! Download and registration details are also included towards the bottom of this post. So let’s start and review some of the features CT offers!

1. Calendar Utilities

A good personal information manager needs to have good calendar views and Calendar Touch comes with a great set of Calendar views for: Daily, List, Weekly and Monthly views! CT Calendar views are designed to provide users with the best possible look & feel, making it pleasing to review your agenda and maintain great organization for your busy schedule! Many additional display technologies implemented with CT also helps make each of the calendar views bring the best looking and informative display to the user – more details on these different features included here in upcoming points.

2. Gestures

CT offers some cool gesture-navigation features designed to make navigation easier and more enjoyable! Swipe your finger horizontally will step backwards/forward for the current view date-span. This means on the daily view this will move one day back/forward, on the list/weekly views the movement will be in weeks, and on the monthly view this will move in months.

Swipe your finger upwards will jump to today’s date; downwards will bring the Touch-Date-Picker control to the screen (more on this in following points).

Moving to the coolest effect of all... biggrin.gif Swiping your finger horizontally without releasing your press from the screen for about a second brings the Touch-Date-Spinner, an animated date-picker that will continue to cycle until you release your finger from the screen. You can move forward/backwards in larger gaps faster and with a single finger swipe on the screen!

Note: TouchFlo users will need to disable Touch Scrolling feature in order for gestures to work perfectly within Calendar Touch due to some side effects of Touch Flo. We were only able to locate the correct way to overcome this in recent days of the new version development and a complete solution for this will be included with the upcoming update. Since this doesn’t affect all users and after a lot of thought we decided to take a bit more time and work on the proper solution for this and not rush in an incomplete solution for this smile.gif

3. Touch Design

Calendar Touch brings lots of new innovations to the PIM market with new touch-oriented dialog designs. Using the Touch design and Gestures users should be able to review their calendar details without the use of a stylus easily and smoothly! CT view picker allows to easily switch between the different views with full screen buttons, full screen layout implementation for date and time pickers that will allow you to easily assign date/time values to your new items, settings main interface and more!

4. Popup Effect

One of the things you might have noticed in the screen captures for some of the views until now is the popup-effect navigation CT offers. The Popup-Effect allows you to “zoom-in” on the currently highlighted item-object for each of the views (appt/task on daily/list views or day on the weekly/monthly views). Using the Popup-Effect you will enjoy more details display for the currently highlighted object. For example, on the monthly view with Popup-Effect enabled, the currently highlighted day will display more details about that specific day within the “enlarged” day box.

The Popup-Effect size can be configured for each of the views (Small, Medium or Large) or disabled completely.

5. Tasks

The Tasks view offers complete tools for professional tasks management. Although tasks can also be (optionally) included with any of your Calendar views, Calendar Touch offers a standalone view for Tasks management. The Tasks view include powerful 3-levels sorting and grouping options, category filtering and special task-properties filters designed especially for task management. The Tasks view implements a powerful one-place view for task management for professional users who rely heavily on tasks for their daily agenda activity smile.gif

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the Tasks view, tasks can optionally be included with all of CT Calendar views.

6. Search

Use the Search view to easily locate any appointment or task stored on your device calendar databases. The Search view allow searching for any string value placed within any of your items on the device and to swiftly locate the item of interest and review all of the item details smile.gif

The Search view can be accessed through Calendar Touch main menu from each of the other views, and can also be accessed using the View Picker dialog like all other views.

7. Design and Feel The Right Way

This might not be the no.1 feature when it comes to productivity application, but a lot of efforts were put to create good design practice and create a calendar view that is fun to look at! We got great reassurances from our beta group users who had a great user experience with the new Calendar Touch and the special notice to design elements with the new application.

Apart from basic attention to the application design, Calendar Touch is the first to bring PNG category icons – which ensures amazing display results with your category icons and a much wider veriety of possibilities! Furthermore, CT includes automatic adoption technology that will make sure the display looks great by applying the theme currently applied to your device!

8. Filters

Calendar Touch offers powerful filtering capabilities that can be used within all of CT views (calendar and tasks). Create powerful logic rules with inclusion/exclusion for any/all of/only specific categories and more! Using filters, you combine groups of categories to a single display based on specific topics. For example, create a working filter including all of your work project related categories to view all of your work related activities in one display.

Although CT offers powerful filters, the filter configuration is designed with an easy to use interface that will guide you through the filter configuration process, making it easy to configure even complex filters!

9. PocketBreeze Integration

With this new Calendar Touch release we’ve also released a new PocketBreeze update today. Users who use PocketBreeze will find this new update available on the PocketBreeze forum for more details. This new PocketBreeze update introduce initial integration level with the new Calendar Touch, such that will allow all of our PocketBreeze users to use both applications together on the same device with great integration!

More details on this release are available on the PocketBreeze forum smile.gif

(*In case that the new version is still not posted on the PocketBreeze forum this is simply because we are still finishing writing the post – so it might take us a few more minutes to get everything ready).

9. Available Translations

The new Calendar Touch arrive with the following available translations: English, German, Swedish, Italian, Japanese and French. As with all of our applications you will be asked to choose your preferred translation as part of the installation process smile.gif

-------------------------------------------------------------

The list above is only a mere preview of some of the great new features available with Calendar Touch! Unfortunately we can’t list everything here so we invite all of our users to give the new Calendar Touch a try and explore all of the new features!

Future Thoughts

Calendar Touch first version release today is a great new start for us for a new application that we’ve been working for a long time. We’ve had LOTs of requests from users who were looking to see a touch version of our SBSH Calendar application (formerly Papyrus) and we are excited to introduce today the very first version of Calendar Touch to our users!

I’m glad to say that we already have a great list of things planned for Calendar Touch development for the upcoming weeks and months that will definitely keep things busy here. Among others, we plan to focus specifically on improving touch and gesture navigation with Calendar Touch. We’ve received a lot of input from our beta group during final testing weeks asking to see more touch/gestures design with Calendar Touch and this is one of the main design goals ahead of us to update 2.1. The development for update 2.1 is planned to start tomorrow biggrin.gif right after we finished the very first version release. (Version 2.0 is the first Touch version to follow-up with the version count of the non-Touch/Smartphone version).

Another development point that will arrive in upcoming weeks will be more focus on PocketBreeze <-> Calendar Touch integration. The current new version of Calendar Touch and PocketBreeze offer initial integration, but a lot more integration features are just around the corner. Most of the development on this section will be done on PocketBreeze side and users will find new updates with related features available until the end of December.

For our SBSH Calendar (Smartphone) users who are waiting for a new update too: This current release is only for those of you with Touch devices (Pocket PC), but a new update for our Smartphone users will also be released here shortly. The release was split to two separate release days to reduce load from our servers and from us, but the new Smartphone version is already available and will be posted in the next couple of days.

During December (towards the holiday season) we will also release several free category-icon extension packages biggrin.gif This is something many of our (Smartphone) users requested and we promised to have such release a while ago. Three packages are planned to be released – all during December and towards the holiday season, as a free download. More information will follow on this shortly too. cool.gif

This is it for now – As always, we will be online here on the forums and looking forward for your input on the new version!! We would love to hear what you think about the new application, what are your improvement suggestions and we will be sure to continue the development based on your input from this new version.

Have a great day!

-Jason-
